of the surface of things è un work in progress, un flusso di associazioni che unisce materiali e idee in assemblage e collage.
Il linguaggio utilizzato è visivo e simultaneo, simile ad una écriture automatique, e dà una seconda o una terza vita a immagini preesistenti, non necessariamente originali, instaurando in questo modo una riflessione sul concetto di autorialità.
L’obbiettivo è esplorare il concetto spazio-temporale stesso insito nella fotografia, ovvero l'idea della sua connessione con le azioni, la veridicità e la complessità nella rappresentazione della realtà e i suoi possibili riarrangiamenti.
of the surface of things is a work in progress, a flow of associations that combines materials and ideas in assemblage and collage.
The language used is visual and simultaneous, similar to an écriture automatique, and gives a second or third life to pre-existing images, not necessarily original, thus establishing a reflection on the concept of authorship.
The goal is to explore the very spatiotemporal concept inherent in photography, namely the idea of its connection with actions, truthfulness and complexity in the representation of reality and its possible rearrangements.

Bärbel Reinhard nella sua concezione del lavoro fotografico riesce ad esprimere una doppia anima. La prima è quella di evocatrice di incanti lunari, quando elabora immagini stregate ed affascinanti. Montaggi di paesaggi, escursioni notturne e surrealistiche, con dettagli splendenti, materiali assemblati per un'occasione enigmatica, come seguendo una ritualità nascosta sotto la superficie dei colori intensi. La sua seconda anima è quella dell'accuratezza manipolatoria, una lucente esattezza mentale che la guida nella scelta degli orizzonti visivi, quando mostra di padroneggiare in modo assoluto le logiche di costruzione e decostruzione dei collage fotografici. Nella sua ricerca si fondono il calore dell'ispirazione e la ferrea determinazione di una mente ordinatrice. Una narrazione avvincente, al tempo stesso catalogazione scientifica e ricomposizione di fantastici mondi impossibili.
Bärbel Reinhard in her conception of photographic work manages to express a double soul. The first is that of evoker of lunar enchantments, when she processes bewitching and fascinating images. Montages of landscapes, nocturnal and surrealistic excursions, with shining details, materials assembled for an enigmatic occasion, as if following a rituality hidden beneath the surface of intense colors. Her second soul is that of manipulative accuracy, a shining mental exactitude that guides her in her choice of visual horizons, when she shows her absolute mastery of the logic of construction and deconstruction of photographic collages. The warmth of inspiration and the iron determination of an ordering mind merge in her research. A compelling narrative, at once a scientific cataloguing and a recomposition of fantastic impossible worlds.
